Apple's shoe emoji launches as a real product
If you are up for a new pair of kicks, there's an interesting pair available now. The Shoe 1 is a pair of running shoes with a design that's based on the Apple shoe emoji.
Designed by Jose Wong, the Shoe 1 is a real-life replica of the shoe emoji available on Apple devices. The upper part of the footwear is made of full-grain nubuck leather and a mesh material. It also has a lightweight EVA foam cushioning for the midsole and a rubber outsole made from 5% recycled rubber.
The Shoe 1 also comes with an A(BCD)5 processor insole that has a print reminiscent of the internals of an iPhone. It also has reflective details and lace up closure so it stays secure on the feet. Another nod to Apple can be spotted in the shoes' retail box.
Priced at $219.90, the Shoe 1 is available in US sizes 5-12/EU sizes 36-46 and is expected to ship in one week after purchase. Interestingly, the site says that all sales are final
with no refund
. That might be a red flag for anyone who wishes to purchase the footwear.
In addition to the shoes, Jose Wong also has a baseball hat and a pair of socks that are also based on their emoji counterparts. The hat is priced at $49.90 and comes with a prohibition sign pin that can be attached to it. The pair of socks is cheaper at $29.90.
