Alongside the CMF Phone 2 Pro, Nothing's sub-brand has also announced new pairs of earbuds, one of which is the CMF Buds 2a. The Buds 2a is the entry-level model in the Buds 2 series while the Buds Pro 2 (available on Amazon for $59) is the high-end variant. Positioned under the CMF Buds 2, the Buds 2a sticks to the same design language as the other CMF earbuds.
The CMF Buds 2a is available in three colors — Dark Grey, Light Grey, and the same Orange hue as the CMF Phone 2 Pro. The earbuds have an in-ear design with a dual matte and glossy finish and an IP54 dust and water resistance rating. The case doesn't seem to have an IP rating but has a hole for a lanyard.
Each earbuds has a 12.4mm driver made from a combination of bio-fibre and a high-elasticity TPU diaphragm. CMF says they have been tuned by Dirac and also have Ultra Bass Technology 2.0 for added bass and an adjustable EQ.
There are a total of four HD microphones on the earbuds which have 42dB active noise cancellation (ANC), a transparency mode, and AI-powered environmental noise cancellation (ENC) for crystal-clear calls. The Buds 2a earbuds also have touch controls, Bluetooth Multipoint for simultaneous connection to two devices, and a Low Lag mode that reduces latency when gaming. The Low Lag mode automatically turns on when the earbuds are paired with a Nothing smartphone.
The CMF Buds 2a has a 43mAh battery capacity in each earbud (460mAh battery in the case) that translates into a battery life of 8 hours (with ANC off) and a total of 35.5 hours with the case. When the battery is low, a quick 10-minute charge will provide up to 5.5 hours of use (with the case).
The CMF Buds 2a has a price tag of €39.95 and will be available to buy starting on the 5th of May.
